In the photo parable for last week, I shared an image of snowshoers nearing the top of Bryant Peak, near Snoqualmie Pass. Today’s photo provides a view of the summit. Both images were captured January 2, 2005.
Last week we touched on the promise in Isaiah to take our blackest sins and turn them as white as snow. We find the same theme in Revelation:
And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore, they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence. Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes” (Revelation 7:14-17 NIV).
Today’s photo is a fitting representation of our current Christian state: contours that are softening, a white blanket with some black spots showing through. The closer we walk with Christ, the whiter our covering will become. The day is fast approaching, when in an instant we shall be changed. No more hint of darkness. That is the day we will be clothed with His robe of righteousness. That is a robe that is whiter than snow!
