On our morning walk a couple of weeks ago, Shelley and I paused beside this yard. Right now it looks quite barren. But spring is here, and based on what we’ve watched happen to this yard every year for the past decade and a half, we’re in for some miracles.
Actually, the miracles have already started. This is a March 8 photo, and yesterday (the 21st) we walked by this same yard and saw that the green rows have exploded into flowers. What’s going to be really impressive are those spiky upthrusts between the greenery. Those are ruthlessly-pruned rosebushes, and they too will finally grow and display their many colors.
I told Shelley that I’m going to try to take this same picture every once in awhile, from this same angle. See that stop-sign post at the right edge of the picture? I’ll use that as the right margin, and together you and I will watch this garden transform. Today we saw bees already at work around the neighborhood, and they’re going to help!
