In my quest for that great sunset shot, I realize I probably have the wrong camera for getting the fine details. But I still hope I can capture the subtle colors of the light playing under the clouds. In this case, there is some intense color, but the details are not as fine as what I saw with my eyes.

I believe it is a similar problem with understanding how magnificent the return of God will be. We have a dim unclear picture of what it will be like and what it will mean for us. We might feel unprepared or even feel afraid of such an event. More on that in a moment.

Recently I tried reading Jefferson’s Bible. The concept is interesting in that it contains only the teachings of Jesus. The question is if we focused only on Jesus’ words, how would it change the way we live and interact with each other. It is an interesting perspective.

Back to the return of Jesus. It seems to depend on our perspective as to how we feel about it. What if we try to view it as a historical event that we are looking back on. At that time, we will know much more about the reasons why we couldn’t see God and why there was pain in the world. We would see clearly how God worked for us and not against us.

I believe we can trust Jesus’ words and we can look forward to what is over the horizon.
