A few nights ago, I was outside our home taking out the trash, when our motion sensor flood lamps clicked on. When I looked back, I saw our cherry blossom tree lit up. The stark contrast of the dark sky and trees, versus the brightly lit blossoms was a unique sight.

Similar to this captured image, life with God and life without God is a night and day difference. Think of any acquaintance in your life (current or past) that doesn’t have the hope and faith of a better life beyond the one on earth. How do/did they act? What emotions do they display? How do they react to bad news? On the contrary, when you have that peace, that hope of a better tomorrow, these same outward reactions are vastly different.

With God in our lives, we can see past the darkness. We may fumble around a bit, but once the light has a chance to provide that needed guidance, we see the future. We see the promise of a better tomorrow. It’s, literally, like night and day.

In 1 Peter 2:9 (NIV) we see what God’s people are called to be and what God does for His people.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Being called out of darkness into His wonderful light is the exact promise we all can cling to. May your day be filled with moments of light.
