This past weekend, we had the opportunity to visit the Salt Lake City, Utah area. We were visiting our 3-year-old grandson and celebrating his birthday. Our daughter and family live in a suburb about 15 miles outside of Salt Lake City. One of the views from their dwelling is what you see above (camera zoomed in). After conducting a little research, I am fairly confident this particular peak is Mount Olympus (ironically, I was using a Nikon for the image capture). As you can see, it’s a majestic view with the snow covering the rugged terrain, jagged rocks, and tree lines. The day was changing from a bit of overcast to clear skies and I happened to look up from playing outside to catch it at the right time.

Of course, there are hundreds of incredible views of mountains around the world. This one isn’t necessarily special, but it certainly got me thinking about our Creator. When I look at this gigantic rising landform, I can’t help but see the work of our God. Yes, there is minor evolution on our planet, but in the beginning, there was creation. After creation, there was a flood. In this case, maybe the incredibly massive water covering the entire planet and the pressure from all those billions and billions of gallons, pushing down, may have pushed these formations higher than they were before. Again, it started with the creation of the dry land that was designed and molded by our Father. His creations bow to Him. Not the other way around.

In Psalm 98:7-9, we can read about who our Creator is and how His creations worship Him,

Let the sea resound, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it.
Let the rivers clap their hands,
let the mountains sing together for joy;
let them sing before the Lord,
for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness
and the peoples with equity.

What a passage. We learn all that He has created, looks to Him, sings to Him, and praises Him. Why? Besides the creation part, the world is at His mercy, yet He is just and fair. How about you? Why do you worship him? When you see this ‘tall rock’ do you think of Him, who created it? Do you bow your head in reverence to the one and true Creator? I know I do. I hope you do as well.
