This duck is a Northern Shoveler. The picture was taken a number of years ago as you can probably tell by the ice. I’m quite sure that there is currently no ice on the pond where this was taken near Vancouver (BC) airport!

The weather has been really strange this year in Central Washington and the BC Interior. We had just enough snow where we were plowed out a couple of times and that snow soon melted. We had a green Christmas (which was fine with me as I was driving) and there is not much snow in the 10 day forecast and the couple days where snow is predicted, the temperatures are above freezing (both day and night).

Weather is just one of the many things that are becoming more and more unpredictable in the world around us. I think these words of David are helpful at times like this:

I find rest in God;
only he gives me hope.
He is my rock and my salvation.
He is my defender;
I will not be defeated.
My honor and salvation come from God.
He is my mighty rock and my protection.
People, trust God all the time.
Tell him all your problems,
because God is our protection. Selah
