A couple of days ago I paused in front of a gardening store to snap this perfect little parable. Jesus used both seeds and maturing plants as subjects for His own parables. In literal gardening, seeds are planted beneath the soil, in the dark. But gradually they grow, and eventually they burst into the sunshine where their nourishment is enhanced. Jesus described this process in Mark 4:28 [NKJV]: “For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head.”

It’s good to review the Bible’s teachings on spiritual growth, because they remind us to have the same kind of combination of patience and diligence which a farmer has. For more details, click the link just below:
