What does the tree do in response? Does it droop and shrivel in discouragement, and finally die? No. Exactly the opposite. It seems to be saying, “You can’t kill me this easily. I will survive, and I’ll do it by exploding skyward with scores and scores of new sprouts. Come back and see me next year!”
