I don’t understand diffraction very well, but I believe that is what is happening on this silicon wafer to produce colors. Somehow the tiny features in the transistors cause the light to diffract. I’m not sure what went wrong with this silicon wafer, but some small defect caused it to be scrapped as unusable. Normally it would be cut into many pieces and used in electronics, maybe as little CPUs.
Several things seem interesting about this wafer. The light is diffracting in a big cross pattern. We could think about the light of Jesus shining on us. Each little CPU reflects the light differently depending on the angle viewed. Similarly we reflect God’s light differently depending on our situation.
This wafer got rejected because of some flaw. But God does not reject us. We are saved through Jesus who died on the cross for us. Because we know he forgives us, we can confidently trust in him and follow him.
In Genesis, the first thing God created is light. We can look at the scientific importance of light and we can look at the importance of God’s goodness through his light of love.
Let’s keep our eyes alert to God’s light and how we can reflect it with joy.
