In this picture from 2017, a footbridge provides passage near Mount Rainier to the Grove of the Patriarchs. Currently the bridge is closed after flood damage in 2021. So, I’m grateful to have a picture of it in my files.

I searched for Bible verses about bridges but did not find any. Bridge technology must not have been common in Bible times. There is, however, an interesting verse about gates.

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Matthew 7:13,14

It makes sense that there are many ways to live, but really good ways to live need to be carefully considered.

At the Grove of the Patriarchs, there is only one path to safely reach it, but the bridge on that path is closed. Fortunately, the path to life is always open through God’s grace. We just need to choose it and thoughtfully move forward.
