As I drove past this bend in the West Kettle River, I noticed four deer on the other side of the river. By the time I realized they would make a great photo, I was already past the little turnout on the other side of the road so I did a U-turn further down the road and came back.

I guess I assumed the deer would not be spooked since I was on the other side of the river from them and had rolled down the window and turned off the car but they disappeared before I could change lenses (I had been taking scenics of the changing trees) and get more than a picture to show they were there. I don’t keep track of when it is but it may have also been hunting season so that would certainly make them wary.

Anyway, they were by the trees before they disappeared but I assume the river is a drinking source for them. I like these verses about longing for God like a deer longs for streams of water:

As the deer longs for streams of water,
so I long for you, O God.
I thirst for God, the living God.
When can I go and stand before him?
Psalm 42:1-2 (NLT)
