Welcome

Shelley and I have had the delightful privilege of pastoring this congregation since May 1991. We treasure not only the friendships we’ve made, but also the happy, energetic, Christ-centered service-mindedness we’ve sensed here. We’ve watched as newborns have grown into young adults, and we’ve seen how the self-sacrificing spirit of older members we’ve laid to rest has been reborn in the hearts of the young.

Shelley was born in Juneau, Alaska, and after attending Pacific Union College in Angwin, California, taught elementary school for five years. Four of those years were in a one-room schoolhouse on an island in one of Alaska’s floating logging camps. Since 1986, she’s served as an administrative assistant in the education department of the Washington Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

I was born in Redfield, South Dakota, and originally trained as a teacher, after which I taught college English for a couple of years at Union College. I then felt the Lord’s call to pastoral ministry and trained at Andrews University seminary. After completion, we came to western Washington where we have been pastoring ever since.

Shelley and I and the rest of our friends would love to welcome you to our congregation. Please visit us Saturday (Sabbath) mornings! Bible study classes begin at 9:30 a.m., and the worship service starts at 11 a.m. Pastor Maylan Schurch
