My wife Shelley cares deeply and in detail for our health, and has done much judicious reading and research about which vitamins and supplements should be consumed by people of our age. Now that she’s done all the heavy lifting, so to speak, I am the official pill-dispenser every morning at breakfast.
A few months ago I opened one of the bottles and poured out a capsule, and discovered what you see in the photo above. While still inside the bottle, one of this capsule’s halves developed a leak, and the powder dribbled out into the bottle, leaving nothing but air.
If I had simply popped this capsule into my mouth without looking at it, I wouldn’t have noticed the difference. The capsule shell was still firm, but its helpful contents were gone, and my existence would not be as enhanced as it might have been.
One of the tragedies of modern life is that there are religions, and people who teach them, which on the outside might look good, sound good, feel good, but are hollow inside, all or most of the truth drained away.
This problem was no surprise to the apostle Paul, who firmly warned young pastor Timothy about such heresy. I’ve bolded the last part for emphasis.
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! (2 Timothy 3:1 – 5 NKJV, emphasis added)
