A couple of weeks ago on a neighborhood sidewalk I noticed this fallen leaf. Actually, what caught my attention wasn’t this side of the leaf but the underside, which made the veins stand out in very dramatic fashion.
This kind of natural beauty almost takes my breath away. Here it is – just one leaf among billions and billions – once connected to a branch or vine. I don’t know what plant it came from, but its green color shows that it was perfectly nourished throughout its life. And notice how each vein feeds out from the central one, sometimes connecting up with other veins.
Does God care? Of course, and not only because of His amazing natural creations. His Son Jesus, who created everything with Him, expresses His caring in a way described by this century-old song written by Frank Graeff:
Does Jesus care when my heart is pained
Too deeply for mirth or song;
As the burdens press, and the cares distress,
And the way grows weary and long?
O yes, He cares- I know He cares!
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,I know my Savior cares.
