This photo was taken on a trip to Idaho. It is interesting to see a meandering river and what looks like a small town at the middle towards the left.
Sometimes when I have flown at night, I have wondered about the small clusters of lights in a seeming blackness. What would it be like to live in a remote town where people generally don’t commute long distances each day. It looks like there is farming going on.
Are the neighbors friendly and do they all know each other well?
I also like how the plane skims under the clouds and almost touches them. What will the new Earth be like?
Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
Revelation 21:1-4
At that time, I can imagine us looking back at the lives we live now and thinking about what was really important. Maybe we can’t change our situations here overnight. But perhaps we can change our perspective by looking ahead and back.
