This photo was taken from an overlook at the top of the turnoff to Sun Lakes-Dry Falls State Park in Central Washington. I was hoping to get there a little earlier in the day but time had slipped away and the sun had just set and the sky was already turning pink.

I like these verses about what happens when we sin. The Message talks about how God separates us from our sins “as far as sunrise is from sunset.” Other versions talk about how He has taken our sins away from us as far as the east is from west. Psalm 103:12 (NCV)

GOD makes everything come out right;
he puts victims back on their feet.
He showed Moses how he went about his work,
opened up his plans to all Israel.
GOD is sheer mercy and grace;
not easily angered, he’s rich in love.
He doesn’t endlessly nag and scold,
nor hold grudges forever.
He doesn’t treat us as our sins deserve,
nor pay us back in full for our wrongs.
As high as heaven is over the earth,
so strong is his love to those who fear him.
And as far as sunrise is from sunset,
he has separated us from our sins.
Psalm 103:6-12 (The Message)
