From the very beginning of Earth’s history, God has known it’s far better to be around someone else than be alone. God created Adam AND Eve for that very purpose. Numerous verses and examples tell us, God knows what’s best for us and it includes being with others. When there aren’t others around, we can always count on God being with us.

In this image, a single Bald Eagle is framed by some frosted tree branches. You can see the scene and it gives us the impression of cold and lonely. What you don’t see are the 6 other Bald Eagles in the surrounding tree branches, congregating in high treetops, searching for the perfect meal.

On any given day, depending on how the day is going, you could feel a bit cold and lonely. Maybe you are struggling with something difficult. Maybe you are late to important appointment. Maybe you’ve recently had to say goodbye to a loved one. Maybe the day is just not going the way you had planned. Whatever the situation/challenge, know you are not alone. Regardless of your physical proximity to another human, God is lockstep with you.

In Genesis 28:15 (NIV), we see God making a promise to Jacob, I like to believe this promise holds true for us as well,

“I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land, I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”

This is a specific verse, but the promise is REAL. God is with us. He is beside us. He is carrying us. He is holding us up. Whatever support we need from God in this exact moment, He’s with us. For sure, we are not alone!

The image was captured along the Skagit River, in Snohomish County. Like my friend the eagle, I was also not alone on this birding expedition.
