NOTE FROM PASTOR MAYLAN — If you’re a regular follower of our Daily Photo Parable, my apologies that we haven’t uploaded any since Darren’s excellent blog below. Shelley and I are going through an area-wide internet outage at the moment, which means that we can’t upload new blogs from our home computer. (I’m at our local public library sending this note from there.) Hopefully the outage ends soon and the Photo Parable will be back on its usual “daily delivery.” Thanks to our faithful bloggers! — Pastor Maylan
DARREN WRITES: Just recently, I had the chance to visit Snoqualmie Falls again. We had family that had traveled across the United States, from Maine, and wanted to see a few sites around the area. Snoqualmie Falls is always a great spot to show off. It’s beautiful to view, regardless of the amount of water tumbling off the top. Of course, the surrounding areas are majestic – trees, rocks, river, and gorgeous blue skies (most of the time). This day was no exception.
When I was snapping a few images (seen above) I thought of the awesome power of God. The thousands of gallons pounding the pool below shows the waters’ power, but who made that water? Who made this waterfall? God did. God created all things. Talk about power!
All this power reminded me of a song I presume most of us know/remember – My God Is So Big – written by Ruth Calkin
My God is so great, so strong and so mighty!
There’s nothing my God cannot do!
The mountains are his, the rivers are his,
The stars are his handiwork too.
My God is so great, so strong and so mighty!
There’s nothing my God cannot do!
As we peered over the embankment, the sun came out and clouds parted, the water flowed over the slippery rocks and crashed below. It was magnificent and difficult not to recite these words – There’s nothing my God cannot do!
May your day be filled with reminders of the truly awesome power of our God.
