Alert and faithful Daily Photo Parable readers may notice a slight change today in our schedule. Shelley and Russell swapped their customary time slots at Shelley’s invitation so that Russell and Amber could bring us this special Mother’s Day tribute. Thanks, Jurgensens!
The note shown in the picture on the back board is too hard to read, so here it is:
Here are a few of her favorite things!
Jesus, Family and Friends,
Grandchildren and great
grandchildren,
sharing memories,
Reading books, music, concerts,
playing games, traveling,
favorite and new recipes,
freshly fallen snow,
deer in the yard,
yellow roses and flower
bouquets,
writing poetry and stories.
These words are a note describing Carrol Grady at her memorial last weekend. I wanted to write about her this Mother’s Day because we miss her in our church where she was very active. She was a wonderful great grandmother, grandmother, mother, wife, and mother figure to countless youth. She was an example of all mothers that we honor today and hopefully every other day of the year.
Mothers have strength, love, and determination that they share with those around them. That much energy cannot be from just a person, but they pass the love of God through them.
I think of my mother who gave so much energy and love for her family. I think of Carrol who so visibly demonstrated God’s love in the church. I think of you and your moms. I think of my wife whom I marvel at for her capacity to love her family.
Not all mothers fit Carrol’s description exactly. But all mothers with zero to twenty kids share their own special talents.
When speaking of mothers, I can’t help but put in a word for equality of women, and Mother’s Day is an opportunity to do that. As Jesus carefully showed fairness and love to everyone, let us listen when he says, “This is my command: Love each other.” John 15:17
Thank you, Carrol for being a wonderful mother, and thank you to all the mothers out there. We love you.
Happy Mother’s Day
