I was recently reminded of the story of Noah, and the faith he had in God. As you recall, God was ready to push the reset button on our sinful planet. Unfortunately, except for Noah and his family, God didn’t see any other humans worthy of saving. A grim time for the world indeed. So, the plan for a very large boat was put into motion. Noah and his family had to have amazing faith as they toiled away at this gigantic project, not fully grasping the end results.
Once onboard, the doors were closed, the rain began. Forty straight days of torrential downpour. Then for the next 150 days, water covered all surfaces. There were no dry places on earth, except for inside that ark. Faith continued. Soon after, Noah could see the tops of the highest mountains, just peaking above the waves. More faith. Forty days later, Noah began the journey of finding land that was dry by sending out a few feathered friends to scout out the area. After a couple of attempts, one returned, this time with a tree leaf in its beak. Their faith turned to hope.
After months and months of being sealed in a floating zoo, Noah and his family finally were called out, by God, to exit the boat. Can you imagine the feeling of not only being outside (on dry ground) but finally seeing the path God had laid before them. He told them what they needed to do, to survive and follow his instructions. Noah didn’t know what the timing would be, but that didn’t waver his faith and ultimately his hope of something better to come.
God is in control of anything and everything you are facing, and He will get you through it. His timing is perfect. It may not be exactly how you see it working out, but God is in control the whole time.
The image I chose is of an apple blossom, just after an afternoon rain. It reminded me of the plants and trees Noah and his family might have come across, after that long hard rain they endured.
This coming week, my hope is for you to see God’s promises all around you. I hope we all have the faith in our Creator, that He provides all with a glimpse of hope of better things to come.
