A little over a week ago on my post-breakfast walk my attention was caught by this gloriously tall grass-growth. I’m an old farm boy, and it seemed to my experienced eye that what we had here was a genuine pasture. I mean, hadn’t these grass-spears actually seeded out at the top? This seems proof that this grass may never had been mowed yet this year. I grabbed for my smartphone, and shifted my position away from the home’s windows so that I wouldn’t be seen as a homeowner’s association spy, and snapped this picture.

Wednesday morning of this week, however, I saw that the harvest had happened:

In other words, a reaping. Jesus made a point of using farming metaphors when He talked about the judgment, echoed in this passage from “The Revelation of Jesus Christ”:

Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and on the cloud sat One like the Son of Man, having on His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle. And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, “Thrust in Your sickle and reap, for the time has come for You to reap, for the harvest of the earth is ripe.” So He who sat on the cloud thrust in His sickle on the earth, and the earth was reaped. (Revelation 14:14 – 16)

Bottom line: There will be a reaping, a time of accountability. Earth’s trauma won’t continue. Those who have perpetrated evil will be called to account.
