The other day I needed a small piece of wood to be just a little thinner to fit a project. I looked at the table saw and thought it looked too big for such a small stick. Next, I looked at some sandpaper and thought that would take a long time to sand it down to size. Scanning the work bench revealed a hand plane. That looked like just the right balance–not too big and not too small. After shaving off a few curls, I grabbed a picture.

It reminded me about how Jesus worked with Joseph in a carpentry shop. I’m guessing that Jesus used something like a plane to shape wood. I imagine the shop would be busy but peaceful without the sound of power tools.

In the same vein of thought, let’s let Jesus shape our lives to be peaceful, busy, and productive.
