If you live around trees and/or a forest (specifically in the Pacific Northwest), and can get away from some artificial noise, there’s a good chance you’ll hear some croaking. Most likely it will come from Pacific tree frogs, and you will usually hear them long before you will see them. Why you ask? Well, they are quite vocal but only about the size of your finger tip – between 1 and 2 inches in length. They are part of the “Chorus frog” classification, and come in a variety of colors – not this beautiful green, but also tan, brown, reddish and a black. Most of the ones we end up seeing are going to be either this color of green or a brown. They have the capability to change their color, seasonally, in order to blend in better with their surroundings, which is one more reason you’ll hear these frogs before you see them.
Obviously, this is another incredible creation from our Creator. The fact that I end up hearing these guys before I see them (if I see them at all), reminds me of the Holy Spirit. When Jesus promised His disciples their Helper, He told them they would feel and hear the presence and witness the work of the Holy Spirit, but wouldn’t visibly see Him. He also compared the Spirit to the wind. We see, hear and can feel its effects, even if we don’t see it. We still know it’s there.
When we are in need of assistance, know that your Creator is there – via the Holy Spirit. You won’t be able to SEE but you certainly will hear and know He is with you.
