I can imagine at warm times of the year, this sidewalk and bench might have university students walking and lounging. In the fall when it is cold, the students don’t lounge outside, but make their way busily to their classes where they work hard.
While it is great to work hard helping people out, the Bible is clear that we can’t rely on ourselves for salvation.
“Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead.” 2 Corinthians 1:9
Let’s rely on God and do good things because He saves us, rather than doing them in order to be saved. It makes a huge difference how we approach it because we are happier and the people around us are happier because of our attitude.
