A week ago I spotted this familiar bumper sticker. I’ve seen it quite a number of times over the years—in fact, I wrote a Daily Photo Parable about it when I saw it on another car several years back. I get a warm and friendly feeling every time I see it.

This doesn’t mean that I agree with all the concepts adopted by the groups behind these symbols. By no means.

But what comforts me so deeply is that, as long as the practitioners of these philosophies don’t harm practitioners of other philosophies, everybody is free to believe and live the way they want.

Sadly, Christians—whose God grants them free choice to accept or reject Him—haven’t always been this generous to other human beings. Because of misinformation and fear, they’ve sometimes allowed themselves to behave in damaging ways.
