I was privileged to go on a whale watching trip this past week in the Salish Sea. We started out in Anacortes and had a beautiful, sunny day and encountered harbor seals, Stellar sea lions, nine transient orcas, a California sea lion and a couple of gray whales.

Aside from the peeks into the lives of these marine animals of the Pacific Northwest, we were able to see the mountains which were out in all their glory. The mountain in the picture is Mount Baker but we could also see other mountains in the Cascade range as well as the Olympic Mountains. The sun was sparkling on the water and there were signs of spring in the flowering cherry trees we passed on Camano Island.

Come, let’s shout praises to GOD,
raise the roof for the Rock who saved us!

Let’s march into his presence singing praises,
lifting the rafters with our hymns!

And why? Because GOD is the best,
High King over all the gods.
In one hand he holds deep caves and caverns,
in the other hand grasps the high mountains.
He made Ocean—he owns it!
His hands sculpted Earth!
Psalm 95:205 (The Message)
