Sometimes it takes a little work to get to a spot where a person can rest beside a nice lake.  The effort is worth it, however, when you know the journey is part of the experience and when you know what to expect at the end.  This is the upper Cutthroat Lake near Bald Mountain east of Everett.  The trail is listed as difficult and is also very interesting.  The trail winds through meadows and at times crosses boulder areas where cairns (small stacked rocks) mark the way.  After a long set of switchbacks, it finally arrives at a set of picturesque lakes.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures
he leads me beside quiet waters,
  he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
  for his name’s sake.

Psalm 23:1-3

It seems like life does follow the analogy in Psalm 23.  From the many stories in the news we can see what happens without the Lord.  Life is challenging, but let’s keep following Him and let Him lead us to good things.
